At the University of Lisbon - Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Sciences:
Monitor from October 1969 to February 1970
2nd Assistant from February 1970 to August 1974
Assistant under the regime of Service Commission at the University of Luanda, Angola, from January 1972 to August 1974
At the National Institute of Industrial Research - Laboratory of Physical Chemistry: Assistant from October 1970 to December 1971
At the University of Southampton – Department of Chemistry:
Research studentship from the "Instituto de Alta Cultura" from November 1974 to August 1978.
Research Fellow from August 1978 to July 1980

Scientífic Interests
Electrochemistry. Studies of electrode processes; Electrochemical kinetics; Electrosynthesis; Microelectrodes; Electroanalysis; Metallic electrodeposition.
Author of about seventy scientific publications and of a chapter of a book.
Organisation of various national and international scientific meetings, amongst which: NATO Advanced Study Institute "Microeletrodes: Theory and Applications" (Chairman), Alvor, Portugal, in May 1990; X EUCHEM Meeting on Organic Electrochemistry (Vice-Chairman), Agelonde, França, April 1998; and XI EUCHEM Meeting on Organic Electrochemistry (Chairman), Tomar, Portugal, April, 2000.
