Following the success of the “1ªs Jornadas de Química Medicinal” in 2008, the Executive Committee of the Masters degree in Medical Chemistry decided to organize a Second Edition.

As the first one, this meeting aims to be a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest scientific advances in this domain in Portugal. It will also provide a unique opportunity for researchers, teachers, students and other professionals with interest in the area to meet and exchange results.

This meeting will gather experts from academia and industry, and also two young researchers recently graduated from this Masters degree course. Several subjects in Medicinal Chemistry will be presented including computational design of potential medicines, synthesis of new molecules and their pharmacological and toxicological evaluation, implementation of new biodistribution technologies, molecular bases of neurodegenerative diseases and the process of industrial production of drugs.

During the coffee breaks posters reporting some of the research projects carried out by the current Medicinal Chemistry Master students within the curricular unit Laboratories I will be presented.
