2nd Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry of the University of Minho.
The 1st Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry of University of Minho took place on the 17th of May 2013 in Braga having gathered around 120 participants that discussed some of the latest issues related to Medicinal Chemistry. The meeting program included two plenary lessons, three invited oral presentations, four oral communications and about ninety panel communications. Plenary lessons with the titles: "Targeting G-protein coupled receptors in cancer with radio (metal) labelled peptides: from bench to bed" and "Neurodegenerative diseases and drug discovery: How long how far" were given by Professor Helmut Maecke Department of Nuclear Medicine of the University Hospital of Freiburg awarded in 2011 with the Becquerel Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Professor Fernanda Borges of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. The invited oral presentations were given by Dr. Pedro Gois, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, Marco Gil, Hovione and Maria João Queiroz, Chemistry Centre of the University of Minho. This event was organized by the course commission with the support of the Portuguese Chemical Society, and was intended at promoting interaction between students, researchers and companies related to Medicinal Chemistry.
